Jose "Pepe" Garcia

Jose “Pepe” Garcia grew up in Palmview, Texas, and graduated from La Joya High School in 1990. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994. He returned to the Rio Grande Valley and pursued a career in education. In 1999, he graduated from the University of Texas Pan-American with a Master of Education in Educational Administration. For over 20 years, Pepe has been employed by La Joya ISD as an Elementary Teacher, Elementary Instructional Supervisor, High School Assistant Principal, Elementary, and Middle School Principal, and currently, he is the Assistant Superintendent for Operations.

Pepe and his wife, Leticia R. Garcia, have lived in the Sharyland Independent School District for the past 20 years. They have two children, Alec J. Garcia, 23, will be graduating from Sul Ross State University on May 2024. He graduated from Sharyland Pioneer High School in 2017 and attended John H. Shary Elementary, North Junior High, and Sharyland High School his freshman year. Alexie D. Garcia, 21, will be graduating from the University of Texas at San Antonio in December 2023. She graduated from Sharyland Pioneer High School in 2020, she attended John H. Shary Elementary and North Junior High.

Pepe and his family are members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas. He is a member of the Diamondback Athletic Booster Club. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Boards and the Texas Association of Secondary Principals. He also makes time to support and attend as many events as possible at the schools in Sharyland ISD.

Pepe’s background and experience in educational leadership, provide ongoing support to ensure schools in Sharyland ISD are conducive, goal-oriented, and safe learning environments for the students, teachers, and administration.
