Sharyland North Junior High has been named among an elite group of seven middle schools as “Texas Schools to Watch” through an initiative of the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform.

Sharyland North Junior High will be showcased at state and national conventions this year for their academic excellence, developmental responsiveness and social equity.  Cecil Floyd, Texas Schools to Watch director said, “North Junior High demonstrates a high-performing middle grade school and has a clear focus on academic growth and achievement.  They also recognize the importance of meeting the needs of all of their students, ensuring that each and every child has access to a rigorous, high-quality education.  The state of Texas is proud to have Sharyland North Junior High to serve as a model school from which others can learn.”

“This is an amazing accomplishment for our students, staff, parents and community of Sharyland North and Sharyland ISD.  It was truly a concerted effort from everyone.  We will continue to strive for and exceed the high standards that we hold dear at our wonderful school,” said Leticia Leal, Principal

North Junior High will also be among the celebrated schools at a June awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C. for having earned the 2016 Texas Schools to Watch and will be designated as a National Forum Schools to Watch.
