MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Sharyland Mentor Program is
to develop and retain novice teachers by providing
professional learning experiences in a supportive
environment which encourage reflective practice,
improve the instructional repertoire, and increase
student performance through the Texas Beginning
Educator’s Support System (TxBESS).
PROGRAM GOALS

To ensure that teachers new to the district have a successful teaching and learning experience.

To improve instructional strategies and student success in all Sharyland ISD classrooms.

To promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development for individual student success.

To increase the retention of successful beginning teachers.

To provide qualified, trained mentors as an ongoing support system.

Mentor/Buddy
The role and responsibility of the mentor/buddy teacher is crucial in promoting the personal and professional well being of the experienced teacher new to SISD. The mentor/buddy teacher provides ongoing support in a collaborative environment by assisting the new professional to become acclimated to the culture of the school and SISD.
Campus Administrators
The campus administrator plays an integral role in perpetuating the development of the new teacher. He/she provides support, guidance and leadership in ensuring that mentoring activities are implemented and maintained over the course of the year.
Mentor Program Facilitators
Mentor Facilitators provide support through site visitations, communication, and implementation of mentor program.
